John Lummus serves as the President and CEO for the Upstate SC Alliance. In this role, he is responsible for driving the overall direction of the Alliance as well as developing relationships and supporting collaboration throughout the region.
Prior to his current position at the Upstate SC Alliance, Lummus served as vice president of Economic and Institutional Advancement at Tri-County Technical College, a position he held for eight years. Lummus also served as director of the Anderson County Office of Economic Development and worked to recruit new industry while supporting existing industry throughout the county.
A native of Anderson, John is a graduate of Wake Forest University and received his master's degree in Public Administration from the University of South Carolina (USC). He is also a graduate of the South Carolina Economic Developer's School, USC's Higher Education Leadership Program, and the national Executive Leadership Institute conducted by the League for Innovation in Community Colleges.
Elizabeth Feather serves as Director of Research for the Upstate SC Alliance. She is responsible for directing and executing the research efforts for the Upstate SC Alliance team and positioning the organization as the go-to resource for information, which includes compiling data and reports for prospects and investors as well as working with industry partners to provide the most up to date information about the Upstate, . Feather is also an integral part of the Upstate's participation with the Global Cities Exchange, a joint partnership of the Brookings Institution and JPMorgan Chase. Feather joined the Upstate SC Alliance in 2011 after eleven years with GSA Business.
Feather graduated from the Honors College at the College of Charleston with a BA in English, a BA in French and a minor in Arts Administration.
Jacob Hickman serves as the Director of Business Recruitment for the Upstate SC Alliance in which he is responsible for the creation and implementation of the organizations global recruitment strategy. He works closely with the entire team to integrate all departments in order to enhance the Upstate’s brand. Jacob also works closely with partners at the state and local level to position and market the Upstate region as the best choice for global investment.
Hickman joined the UA in 2010 having previously held other business development positions in the private sector. He received his Bachelor of Arts from Randolph-Macon College in Virginia where he was a two-sport athlete. Jacob and his wife, April, are proud parents to their two daughters, Emma Lynn and Blakely Ann. His hobbies include all things outdoors, running being at the top of that list.
Lauren Scoggins serves as the Director of Investor & Public Relations for which she is responsible for managing and growing the relationships of the organization's investors, securing new investors, and enhancing fund development strategies.
After working at the South Carolina State House for two years, Lauren moved to the Greenville area in 2008 and began her career in the nonprofit fund development field. She has worked as a community director for the March of Dimes and then as the director of development and communications for Pendleton Place for Children and Families. She has a broad range of non-profit and fund development experience, most recently managing and diversifying a $1.4 million fund development portfolio. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with minors in Business Administration and Sociology from Presbyterian College and is a graduate of both Opportunity Greenville and the Women’s Leadership Institute of Furman University. Lauren is also active with the Greenville Chamber’s PULSE association and the local chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP).
Aimee Redick serves as Director of Global Engagement for the Upstate SC Alliance and is responsible for the development and execution of the organization’s global marketing strategy. In her role, she serves to increase awareness of the region through UA marketing initiatives directed to both domestic and international audiences and by building supportive relationships with centers of influence.
Aimee is a native to Upstate South Carolina. She joined the UA in 2012 after working for The Cliffs Communities in their sales and marketing department. Previously, she practiced law for more than 7 years. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina and her Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law.
Marc Metcalf serves as a Business Recruitment Officer for the Upstate SC Alliance for which he is responsible for growing the pipeline of prospective companies who could invest in the Upstate region.
Metcalf joined the UA in 2015 after working for Greenville Technical College. He earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of South Carolina, an MBA from North Greenville University and is a graduate of the Basic Economic Development course at the University of North Carolina.
Emelie Hegarty serves as the Marketing Manager for the Upstate SC Alliance. In her role, she creates and manages production of marketing materials for the organization, including print collateral, presentations, graphics, and web content, for both internal and external audiences. She also plays a key role in supporting marketing initiatives of the organization, including implementation of a digital marketing plan and event planning.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Electronic Media, Arts, and Communication with a concentration in Graphic Design from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. She originally moved to Greenville in 2009 to serve in AmeriCorps.
Danielle Besser serves as the Public Relations Coordinator for the Upstate SC Alliance. In her role, Danielle coordinates a multifaceted communications strategy that supports each of the Upstate Alliance’s initiatives. Responsibilities include supporting events, serving as media contact, and identifying and sharing stories of interest to Upstate Alliance investors and stakeholders.
She moved to the Upstate in 2015 from Coastal Georgia, where she was Director of Marketing & Communications for the Liberty County Development Authority. Danielle was introduced to economic development through her role as education and county government reporter with the Coastal Courier.
Danielle has a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from the University of Florida and is a graduate of the Georgia Academy for Economic Development and the IEDC Economic Development Marketing & Attraction course.
Jeff Henson serves as the Research Specialist for the Upstate SC Alliance. In this role he assists in the creation and maintenance of regional databases, the collection of statistical data and research, the compilation of requests and other support services. He works directly with Elizabeth Feather in positioning the Alliance as the go-to resource for research in the Upstate.
Jeff is a graduate of Furman University where he received a degree in Business Administration. He has previously held positions in real estate and finance with Berkshire Hathaway Home Services | C. Dan Joyner REALTORS®, Residential Capital Corp., CBRE and Stonehenge Holdings. He holds his South Carolina Real Estate License, is currently pursuing his CCIM designation and his MBA at Clemson University.
Patty Wills serves as the Executive Administrator/Office Manager for the Upstate SC Alliance and is responsible for assisting the President / CEO, managing office operations and overall administrative services for the organization. Patty joined the Upstate SC Alliance in August, 2012. She received her degree in Finance from Monroe Community College in Rochester, NY.
