Gov. Sanford Signs Economic Development Competitiveness Act

Gov. Mark Sanford recently joined Speaker of the House Bobby Harrell, Commerce Secretary Joe Taylor and other economic development advocates to sign H.4478, a bill aimed at enhancing South Carolina’s ability to attract jobs and investment and compete in an increasingly global marketplace.

OpTek Systems Inc. Announces Expansion in Greenville County

The South Carolina Department of Commerce and the Greenville Area Development Corporation announced that OpTek Systems Inc. will expand its fiber optic device and laser manufacturing facility in Greenville County. The new investment is expected to generate up to 20 new jobs over the next several years.

Matrix Technology Park in Greenville County Approved as South Carolina Certified Site

The South Carolina Department of Commerce has completed review of The Matrix Business and Technology Park in Greenville County and has awarded it the designation of South Carolina Certified Site.

The South Carolina Department of Commerce, the Greenville Area Development Corporation (GADC) and Greenville-based Black Forest Container Systems LLC announces its relocation and expansion to 1186 Pendleton Street in the City of Greenville, South Carolina. As part of the organization’s strategic growth initiatives in North America, the company plans to add at least 10 jobs over the next three years. New capital investment in the expanded operation is estimated at $1.5 million.

U.S. Engine Valve Company Announces Expansion in Oconee County

The South Carolina Department of Commerce and Oconee County today announced that U.S. Engine Valve Company will expand its operations in Oconee County. The company expects to invest $18 million over the next five years and create 10 new jobs.

Parkdale Mills Inc. Announces New Facility in Cherokee County

The South Carolina Department of Commerce and Cherokee County today announced that Parkdale Mills will locate its new facility in Cherokee County. The company is purchasing the former Wellstone building and is expected to invest $45 million and will retain up to 145 jobs at the plant.
