The Upstate SC Alliance presented the prestigious “Spirit of the Upstate Award” to Robert “Bobby” M. Hitt III during its annual meeting held Wednesday, March 9 at the BMW Zentrum in Greer. Hitt, South Carolina’s newly named Secretary of Commerce, was recognized for his vision and leadership in elevating the Upstate SC region to a global marketplace.

J.I.T. Manufacturing (Cowpens S.C.) just received news this week that they are one of three companies selected to participate in the Boeing Company’s Small Business Development Mentoring Program. A Boeing Management Team toured the states of South Carolina and North Carolina looking for potential new suppliers in the latter part of 2010, they noted J.I.T. Manufacturing’s excellence and over-the-top willingness to become part of the Boeing family.

Gov. Nikki Haley, the South Carolina Department of Commerce and the Greenville Area Development Corporation today announced that Automation Engineering Corporation will expand its existing operations in Greenville County. The $6.1 million investment is expected to generate 78 new jobs over the next five years.

The Boeing Company (NYSE:BA) announced today that ADEX Machining Technologies, a manufacturer of precision machined components for aerospace, defense and energy industries, has been selected for Boeing’s Mentor-Protégé Program. The signing ceremony was held at Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner Assembly Factory in Charleston, SC., and included executives from Boeing Commercial Airplane Supplier Management.
