The Upstate SC Alliance is a public/private regional economic development organization designed to market & brand the 10 counties of the Upstate South Carolina.

Q: Why a regional approach?

Regionalism is about creating a critical mass of companies, institutions, infrastructure and talent to generate greater visibility for a region globally. Through regionalism, you present a more diverse range of these assets to prospective business owners and decision makers.

Q: Is the UA only trying to attract large manufacturers?

No. The Upstate SC Alliance's marketing program targets headquarters, manufacturing, distribution and back office facilities for the following industries: Advanced Materials, Automotive, Biosciences and Energy.

Q: Who supports the UA?

The Upstate SC Alliance is supported on the public side by 10 counties and 5 cities. From the private sector, we are supported by 160 investors involved in a variety of sectors including business services, construction, education, etc.

Q: How can my business support the UA?

No. Contributors to the Upstate SC Alliance range in size from single-person offices to multi-national corporations.

The 10 counties of the Upstate SC Region are Abbeville, Anderson, Cherokee, Greenville, Greenwood, Laurens, Oconee, Pickens, Spartanburg and Union.

The Upstate SC Region encompasses 6,026 square miles and has a population of 1.34 million residents. It has experienced a 27% growth in population since 1990.
