AnMed Health
The seeds for the present day AnMed Health System were sown in 1904 by Mrs. Jennie Gilmer, a young wife and mother who dreamed of a place where the community's sick and suffering could receive care and comfort. Mrs. Gilmer was instrumental in building community support for a hospital to serve the residents of the Anderson area.
Largely due to her efforts, the Anderson County Hospital Association, a group that would oversee the construction and operation of a new hospital, was organized in 1906. Mrs. Gilmer and other members of the Association led a spirited effort to raise the $25,000 that was needed to construct the original two-story 25-bed hospital building.
