I am amazed at the warmth of the people and livability of the area. It has the ability to be urban and rural, hard-charging with people and business from all over the world and laidback at the same time. The region's leadership has a pro-business attitude, but still respects the environment. I love the way outsiders are always blown away at all the Upstate offers when they visit, often expecting so much less.

I first visited the Upstate in 2006 to volunteer during my college spring break. After leaving behind the ice and snow of New York and being dropped off in sunny South Carolina, I was immediately drawn to the area. Three years later I took on an opportunity to serve with AmeriCorps in Greenville County and settled into the area. The Upstate offers so many options that satisfy my sociable personality and my love of the outdoors. I'm consistently blown away by the overwhelming sense of community and endless amount of things to do.

Having been given a chance to transfer to the Upstate of South Carolina in 2006, my husband and I jumped at the opportunity. Having vacationed at the beaches in SC for years, we were happily surprised (blown away) at the beauty this area offers, along with a wonderful quality of life. We have found our home away from home here in the Upstate.
