Greenwood County has announced that Amazon, previously identified during the recruitment process as Project Piranha, is planning to build an operations facility at the Ninety Six Business Park, creating new employment opportunities and further diversifying Greenwood County’s industrial base.Amazon Logo

The new delivery station will be located at 4720 Ninety Six Highway on an approximately 23-acre site. Designed to support last-mile delivery operations and provide fast delivery and excellent service to customers throughout the county, the facility serves as the final stop for Amazon packages before they reach customers’ doors across Greenwood County and the broader Lakelands region. The station is expected to support dozens of jobs.

“This announcement represents another important step forward for Greenwood County as we continue working to strengthen and diversify our local economy,” said Greenwood County Council Chairman Theo Lane. “We are proud to welcome Amazon to our community and appreciate their investment in our county. Projects like this create new opportunities for our residents and demonstrate confidence in Greenwood County as a place to do business.”

Greenwood County Council Vice Chairman Dayne Pruitt, who represents District 5, including the town of Ninety Six, emphasized the importance of the project to the local community.

“Expanding job opportunities and driving growth in the Ninety Six community has been a top priority of mine since the day I joined Greenwood County Council,” said Councilman Pruitt. “Seeing it come to fruition is a proud moment for me and our entire community. Bringing a name as well-known as Amazon to the Ninety Six community creates a ripple effect of opportunity throughout our area by attracting additional investments, strengthening our local economy, supporting our schools, and helping families build a brighter future right here in Ninety Six. I’m thrilled to welcome Amazon to the Ninety Six Business Park and look forward to a strong partnership for years to come.”

“Greenwood County has been an outstanding partner from the start: from coordinating the purchase of the land to moving this project through permitting,” said Sam Blatt, Amazon’s Senior Manager of Economic Development for South Carolina. “We’re excited to break ground and deliver jobs and investment to Greenwood County, the Town of Ninety Six, and the broader Lakelands region.”

“Ninety Six CPW is proud to serve the Ninety Six Business Park and support the growth taking place in our community,” noted CPW Commission Chairman Dwight Herring. “We are honored to welcome Amazon as the park’s newest tenant. Their investment in infrastructure improvements will enhance the park’s appeal and help attract additional businesses and opportunities to Ninety Six.”

Ninety Six Mayor Gregg Brown welcomed the announcement, stating, “We are thrilled to welcome Amazon and thankful for the County’s recruitment efforts that made this opportunity possible. We’ve always known Ninety Six is a great place to live and work, and we’re glad Amazon agrees. The momentum we’re seeing today sets the stage for lasting success in Ninety Six.”

“We were excited to learn that Amazon is coming to the Ninety Six community, and we believe their presence will have a lasting positive impact on our schools and students,” added School District 52 Superintendent Dr. Beth Taylor. “Our students know the Amazon name and will be excited to see a company they recognize investing in their own community. Opportunities like this inspire our young people, strengthen workforce readiness, and help ensure a bright future for the next generation.”

This project reflects Greenwood County’s ongoing efforts to recruit new industrial investment, support job creation, and expand opportunities across all areas of Greenwood County.

“This investment represents confidence in our workforce and our community,” concluded Chairman Lane. “We look forward to building a strong partnership with Amazon and supporting their success in Ninety Six and throughout Greenwood County.”
