GLOBAL COMPETITIVENESS IN THE UPSTATE
In late 2013, the Upstate of South Carolina was selected for the Global Cities Initiative, a joint project of the Brookings Institution and JPMorgan Chase. Since then, our team has worked to develop practical knowledge, policy ideas and networks needed to become more globally connected and competitive through the Upstate SC Regional Export and Foreign Direct Investment plans.
Our work is guided by the Global Competitiveness Council (GCC) Steering Committee. The GCC works to partner with other internationally focused organizations to present timely events that address international trade topics and challenges and best practices that impact middle market company growth. The GCC also regularly hosts visits by consular, bi-lateral chamber, and trade organization representatives.
