Bosch Rexroth Adds Testing Facility to Enhance Product Development Capability

February 11, 2016

The Greenville Area Development Corporation (GADC), the County-chartered organization tasked with advancing the area’s economic growth, announced today that Bosch Rexroth Corporation will expand its existing hydraulics manufacturing operation in the Southchase Industrial Park in southern Greenville County. The company is investing $5 million over the next few years to enhance unique product development capabilities at its Fountain Inn, SC campus.

The current operations manufacture many types of hydraulic pumps and motors used in construction, agriculture, mining, material handling, and oil and gas exploration. The expansion will involve a new off-highway equipment testing area that will give Bosch Rexroth’s engineers the ability to test their products on their customers’ equipment. This capability will allow for quicker innovation to include rapid prototyping and will ensure faster customer response.

“Greenville County has been an excellent partner for us as we’ve grown to meet the sophisticated needs of our customers in the Americas,” said Mike McCormick, Vice President and Technical Plant Manager, Bosch Rexroth. “We’re proud to be here.”

“In addition to being Bosch Rexroth’s largest manufacturing site in the Americas, we are excited that Fountain Inn will now add to its resume that it is also the engineering and product development center for the Americas,” said South Carolina Commerce Secretary Bobby Hitt.

“Having grown from one manufacturing plant opened in 1989 to adding its third in 2011, Bosch Rexroth is without a doubt an anchor of and major contributor to Greenville’s economic base,” said Greenville County Council Chairman Dr. Bob Taylor. “This new and continued growth shows that Greenville County is ‘Just Right’ for advanced manufacturing.”

“With the support of County Council, the GADC aggressively pursues any and all opportunities to support innovation initiatives of our existing industry,” said GADC Chairman Dick Wilkerson. “This type of development is key to the long-term sustainability of our manufacturing base and higher-paying jobs.”
