Upstate South Carolina’s economic development community recognized the importance of providing foundational knowledge of the process, players, planning and incentives that affect our region’s ability to attract and retain business. The Upstate Alliance partnered with its Local Economic Developers and Land Strategies to create this educational video series for community leaders.
About this Series
Economic development is central to the Upstate’s future—and the landscape keeps getting more complex. The Upstate Alliance and Local Economic Developers across the region recognize this shared challenge, along with an opportunity: to give our stakeholders a resource they can turn to as they navigate economic development decisions.
A Trusted Partner in Land Strategies
We partnered with Land Strategies, an Upstate-based site selection and economic development advisory firm, to dive into the issues. Land Strategies’ principal has sat in every seat at the deal table, bringing familiarity with South Carolina’s economic development and incentives systems, plus experience in objectively evaluating business locations across the country.
Why We Built It
- To provide elected officials and economic development teams with knowledge of economic development’s principles, process and toolkit.
- To share facts amid growing misinformation and public opposition.
- To serve as a resource library that Upstate economic development organizations can use to educate their stakeholders – from elected officials to new team members to board leadership.
- To provide foundational knowledge – over time, amid changes in leadership, across the region.
