GADC’s new top executive coming from York County
July 30, 2014
The Greenville Area Development Corp. has hired longtime York County Economic Development Director J. Mark Farris as its second president and CEO. Farris will start work Sept. 15, succeeding Kevin Landmesser, who has held the positions on an interim basis and will stay on as senior vice president.
The organization’s statement said Farris, 51, was unanimously picked from more than 300 applicants nationwide. Farris was not in Greenville for the announcement.
“Mark has been a tireless advocate of smart, strategic and high-impact economic development in South Carolina overall and in York County, and is widely respected as a strong leader, visionary and strategist in the industry,” Wilkerson said. “He will bring knowledge, energy and a strong collaborative spirit to our public-private partnership and is the right leader to build upon Greenville County’s tremendous opportunities, reputation and momentum.”
