BMW Manufacturing, located in Spartanburg County, S.C., is the BMW Group’s first full manufacturing facility outside of Germany. Associates produced the first BMW built in South Carolina, a BMW 318i, on September 8, 1994. Since then more than 5 million BMWs have been produced at the factory where there are 11,000 jobs on site.

Currently, BMW Manufacturing is the global producer of the BMW X3, X5 and X7 Sports Activity Vehicles and the BMW X4 and X6 Sports Activity Coupes. In addition, the plant produces Motorsport and plug-in hybrid versions of several X models. Nearly 70 percent of these vehicles are exported to 140 markets worldwide. The BMW Group has invested more than $10.6 billion in the Spartanburg facility.
