The population of the County area was 513,431 as of 2018, making it the largest County in South Carolina. Greenville is the largest city in the Greenville-Anderson-Mauldin Metropolitan Statistical Area. The MSA had a population of 910,412 in 2018, making it the largest in South Carolina and the fourth largest in the Carolinas. Greenville is the largest city in the 10-county region of northwestern South Carolina, known as “The Upstate”, which had a population of the CSA had a population of 1,482,416 as of 2018.
