South Carolina Department of Commerce

South Carolina is the new home and headquarters of American innovation — where businesses of all sizes and industries can find success, from “launch to legacy.” The South Carolina Department of Commerce (S.C. Commerce) is dedicated to supporting businesses at every phase of their lifecycle, because thriving companies build thriving communities. From site selection assistance to community development and infrastructure improvement grant offerings, to export and trade support, S.C. Commerce fosters success for both new and existing businesses, alike.

To continue advancing foreign direct investment, trade and research and development opportunities, the state extends its global reach with representation across Europe and Asia that connects South Carolina to developing markets.

S.C. Commerce is the lead agency for state working groups, including powerSC, as well as the lead coordinating partner for the SC Nexus for Advanced Resilient Energy, a federally designated Tech Hub. The agency also maintains Palmetto Railways and the S.C. Coordinating Council for Economic Development.
