South Carolina’s Global Engagement in the Primary Elections

As the South Carolina primary elections quickly approach, the chair of the South Carolina Democratic Party, Jaime Harrison, and post-and-courier.pngthe chairman of the South Carolina Republican Party, Matt Moore, co-authored an article in The Post and Courier regarding the ties our state has to the global economy. Both leaders recognize the importance of electing a leader who understands the significance of maintaining healthy relationships with other nations around the globe stating “With one in five South Carolina jobs relying on trade, the next president will need to be a global leader for American exporters and strengthen our economic engagement around the world.”
 

South Carolinians pride ourselves on our globally focused industry. The article touches on the major global brands, Boeing and BMW among others, that have established a major presence here. The vessels leaving the Port of Charleston had a $53 billion economic impact to South Carolina last year, driving both the local and nationwide economy. With the primaries starting in just one week, Harrison and Moore encourage primary candidates to keep S.C.’s economy in mind as they communicate their campaign strategies.
