Upstate SC Alliance Welcomes Global Cities Program Coordinator

December 4, 2017

Global Competitiveness Council supported by $100,000 JPMorgan Chase grant

In support of its work to ensure South Carolina’s 10-county Upstate engages intentionally with the global economy, the Upstate SC Alliance has hired Tiffany Tate as Global Cities Program Coordinator.
Tate’s role includes supporting logistics, communications and strategy related to the Upstate Global Competitiveness Council.
The council is an investor-led, collaborative initiative launched in July 2017 to implement the Upstate Regional Export and Foreign-Direct Investment plans released by the Alliance following the Upstate’s participation in the Global Cities Initiative, a joint project of the Brookings Institution and JPMorgan Chase.
The Council is aimed at increasing the region’s future prosperity and competitiveness through global connectivity, with four working groups: Middle Market Outreach, Talent Strategies, Materials Innovation, and Global Leadership.
Its work is supported by a $100,000 grant from JPMorgan Chase.
“We’re seeing increasingly that the companies and regions who succeed in today’s economy are the ones with international ties,” said Upstate SC Alliance President & CEO John Lummus. “We’re pleased to welcome Tiffany to the team and look forward to her working hand-in-hand with more than 60 of our investors to bring these plan objectives to fruition.”
Tate previously served as Assistant Director of Ten at the Top, where she supported collaborative task forces, committees and event initiatives with a regional focus.
Her past experience includes nonprofit program management, tax and accounting, and client service management. Tate is a member of the Spartanburg Young Professionals, the Greenville Chamber Pulse Internship Experience Committee, and she serves on the Impact Board for the Imagine Upstate STEAM Festival.
